Life & work 200 years ago - Family Adventure Trail in Höpen
Do you want to know how people lived on the heathland 200 years ago? Can you imagine that the farmers had to sow and harvest by hand? It was very hard and exhausting. The children had to help out on the farm at an early age. If you want to know more about it, then go on the Heathland Farm Trail in the Höpen in Schneverdingen landscape protection area. Here you can see Heidschnucken (German grey heath) sheep and walk barefoot to school – just like children did before.
Various heather species
Do you like bright colours? The nearby Heather Garden has over 130 different heather species, some of which are always in bloom. A trip to Theeshof is also worthwhile: here you can learn even more about the life of the heathland farmers 200 years ago.
